Canada wants to attract newcomers with international skills who are able to employ themselves once they arrive in Canada. Applicants can employ themselves in cultural or sporting activities, or by running a farm in Canada.
The Federal Program for Self-Employed People seeks to attract applicants who have the intention and ability to work on their own account in Canada.
In order to apply for a federal self-employment visa, applicants must provide evidence of their experience in sporting, cultural, or agricultural activities, have sufficient funds to support their families upon arrival, and demonstrate their intent and ability to work on their own account at all times in Canada. In addition to that, they will also have to meet some additional requirements.
Eligible self-employed applicants must meet the following criteria:
• You have experience participating on a global level in cultural activities or sports, or experience in farm management or self-employment in cultural or sporting activities.
• You have the intention and ability to become self-employed in the province or region of destination;
• Possess sufficient skills in English or French.
• Obtaining at least 35 points in a points-based assessment. And the
• Having sufficient funds to settle to support a family in Canada.
